Video: Insane 8-second, 1700HP Twin-Turbo Viper

Some people say the Ford Mustang GT500 Super Snake is the king of the snakes; however that’s not so true. D3 Performance Engineering from Houston, Texas will prove just that with their monster built second-generation Dodge Viper. This twin-turbocharged beast not only makes crazy power on paper but actually puts it all to use by laying out eight-second passes at the race track!

To start, D3 Performance took a bone stock Viper and kicked things up a few notches by adding a Greg Goode-prepared engine with every performance trick under the sun so that they could turn the boost up as high as they wanted. Supplying that boost to the big V10 engine is a pair of 76mm turbos. This set up has been dyno’ed at over 1,700 horsepower to the tires on 30 pounds of boost, all while running on E98 fuel. To lay that power down to the ground, a built Turbo 400 transmission was chosen to do the job.

Helping to control everything is a Pro EFI engine management system and MoTec dash that’s been setup with a traction control system. With the traction control doing it’s magic, the Viper blasts down the quarter-mile at a blistering 8.39-seconds at over 177 mph!!! The best part is they drive it to and from each event! What makes this slithering snake even scarier is the fact it can still be taken up another notch with the boost! Running close to 36 pounds of boost, it could easily make over 2,000 horsepower to the rear tires!

This Viper is truly the King of The Snakes. Super Snakes and Cobras bow down.
