Gallery: All The Mopars of The 13th Annual Fountain Valley Classic Car & Truck Show

Each year cars and trucks flock to Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley California for the Fountain Valley Classic Car & Truck Show. This year marked the 13th  year of the show and was held on June 22nd, 2019. The show attracts all kinds of classics ranging from pre-war to modern muscle and everything in between. Although the show is open to all makes and models, there is always a heavy Mopar presence.

Sifting through the show, we picked out a few of our favorite Mopars that attended the show. This year Pete Haak, the show’s organizer, helped attract over 300 classic cars and trucks. There were a few special guests that also attended the show for 2019. The guests included car enthusiast Fireball Tim Lawrence, announcer Ken Vela of Wicked Kustoms, and Ed “Isky” Iskenderian of Iskenderian Racing Cams. They were all available to meet fans and sign autographs.  Isky was seen walking the show as he searched for the winner of the Ed Iskenderian Award.

The first Mopar we found strolling through the show was a 2008 First Edition Dodge Challenger SRT8. Only a handful of these SRT8 Challengers were made, and this one was well kept. A unique and rare 1990 Dodge Dakota Factory 4×4 convertible caught our eye. A display sign stated that it was #600 of 900 trucks made. It was also #139 of 300 4x4s, and #79 out of 100 trucks with factory bucket seats. In the same row, we were able to catch a glimpse of a 1971 Plymouth 340 Barracuda. This Barracuda was finished in Rallye Red with a black interior and black vinyl top while sporting a set of Mickey Thompson tires.

As we continued through the show we found a tricked out 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee. Everything on the Super Bee had been customized by its owner. Resting beside the Super Bee was a modern Challenger done up to resemble Roland Leong’s Hawaiian funny car. It was an interesting twist on an iconic classic. Other highlights included a pristine 1969 Dodge Dart painted in bright red with black interior. The Dart had all the usual hot rod parts such as Holley, Mickey Thompson, Cragar and more. We also found a 1966 Dodge Coronet 500, finished in Panther Pink with white interior.

Attendees of the show could also have personal items, along with their cars pinstriped by famed pinstriper Von Hot Rod or Johnny Martinez from Wicked Lines Pinstriping. One of the attending cars was brought over to Von Hot Rod’s booth where it was treated to some old school pinstriping from a member of Von Hot Rod’s Pinstriping Circus.

Continuing through the rows of cars, we stumbled upon a 1971 Dodge Challenger. This particular example had a 340 Six Pack, and was finished in Butterscotch. A display of the original invoice and documentation told the car’s story. We also found a pair of modern Challengers parked next to each other. One of which was painted black, and was nicknamed “The Crow” after the 1994 film starring Brandon Lee as Eric Daven.

Other classic Mopars included a beautiful 1970 Challenger R/T finished in Go Mango, which was one of the famed High Impact colors available from Mopar in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This Challenger sported a 440 Six Pack V8, and could be seen parked next to a 1959 Plymouth Fury. The Fury was finished in Flame Red with an Iceberg White roof, and a red interior, much like the 1958 Plymouth Fury that was depicted in the film “Christine”.

Last, but certainly not least, we found a 1966 Plymouth Valiant Signet. This particular car was painted in Dark Green Metallic with a black interior. The restoration on the Valiant was well done. The Valiant sported the original 273cubic-inch V8.

The Fountain Valley Classic Car Show did not disappoint. The turnout was the largest yet and we look forward to seeing what next year brings. A huge thank you to Pete Haak for bringing us this great event. Hopefully next year more classic cars and trucks will return to Mile Square Park for another successful show.
