After a too-long hiatus from the aftermarket, high performance 1968-1970 340 exhaust manifolds are back and you can get them at Mancini Racing (P/N MRE2863549-553). These are brand new castings that have been in development for most of 2025 and only recently started hitting store shelves.
For the uninitiated, Mopar’s 340 small block debuted in 1968 as an optional powerplant for A-bodies through 1969. In 1970, its use expanded to E-bodies including the venerable AAR ‘Cuda and T/A Challenger.
For those three model years, all 340s received a special set of exhaust manifolds that were different from those found on 318s in that they were high flow instead of the standard log style. Scarcity has driven pricing on clean originals up over $1,000 per pair in recent years, prompting the aftermarket to bring back all-new castings of these popular and pretty mani’s.
All will feature original Mopar part numbers (2863549 and 2863553), a 01060 date code (January 6, 1970), and a functional heat riser, making them perfect for restorations. Furthermore, Mancini has all of the ancillary necessities as well; multiple variations of the special heat shield are available along with the requisite hardware set (P/N MREHF8135) to complete the package.
Sure, header-lovers will yell about the extra ponies gained with a set of long tubes but, for our money, we’d prefer to have a solid set of cast manifolds that look good, sound good, don’t leak, and pay homage to Ma Mopar’s original engineering. Get on over to Mancini Racing and grab a set before they’re gone.
