Unfortunately, the world of performance Mopars just got a little dimmer as Larry Gene Smith, renowned cylinder head machinist and porter, passed away Sunday, October 1st, 2023. Born on March 26, 1955 in Albemarle, NC, Smith was 68 years old when he passed.
A graduate of North Stanly High School, Smith most commonly referenced his years working with NASCAR engines as his “greatest education.” With nearly 40 years of engine building experience, Smith was a seminal go-to for performance-seeking engine builders.
On Saturday, October 7th, Larry’s son, Jaman Smith wrote on both Larry’s Facebook page and Larry’s business page, Flow Tech 2 Cylinder Heads the following:
On behalf of our dad Larry; I regret to inform, those who were not aware, that dad passed away last Sunday evening.
We as a family are experiencing a great loss at this time. I know many of you all were customers of dads and have product at his shop. We are working towards organizing these items and will be shipping those back as soon as possible.
We humbly ask that customers message dads Facebook account with a description of what products were sent to the shop, a return shipping address, a good contact number and any pictures you may have available.
Most importantly we ask for patience during this time. We realize your products are important but please remember we are grieving the loss of husband, father, and paw paw.
The family noted that if any wished to honor his memory, donations could be made to Prospect Baptist Church Golden Rule Ministry.
