With a curb weight similar to that of a mid-‘60s A-body, the second generation Dodge Dakota is a prime candidate for big power. And one easy path to power is a G3 Hemi swap like Gabriel Seratto did to his 1999 Dak with help from FuelTech.
Now, the video is all in a foreign language that we won’t pretend to understand, but anyone can pick up on the universal dialects of horsepower and smiles. The truck itself is a stellar color combination of white with red lettering.
Under the hood looks just as good with a 5.7L Hemi that is right at home. The beauty in this beast is that since Dakotas were built with Magnum V8s from the factory, it’s actually a pretty easy fit. Backing it up is an almost mandatory manual transmission which surely makes for a rowdy ride.
At the helm of the controls is a FuelTech FT550 ECU with its all-encompassing display replacing the Dak’s original dash. Flanking it are two WBO2 Nanos to keep tabs on air to fuel ratio. A flex fuel sensor allows for a multitude of juices to feed the hungry Hemi.
The chaps’ ride around the block looked downright raucous whilst rowing through the gears and letting that generous power to weight ratio get them up to speed. It’s all courtesy of FuelTech’s finest. Give them a call or visit online to get yours.
