It’s one thing to get a part or component looking like it came from the factory, and another thing completely to get them to work like the factory intended. That’s been our experience with Topher McGinnis at The Headlight Motor Man here at Mopar Connection Magazine.
Every wiper motor, alternator, starter and blower motor we’ve seen leave Topher’s hands have not only been flawless top level restorations of the original part, but have worked as good (and in some cases, much better) than the day that it left the dealership lot.
How is that possible? For one, Topher has taken the time to have hard-to-find components like white plastic switch plates, armature springs and more meticulously recreated to factory specifications. And with the help of modern tools – like a laser cutter – he can make impossible-to-find parts too.
And when requested, Topher has gone out of his way to secure original NOS components to restore customer’s parts – like an alternator for a numbers-matching 440 Six-Pack Challenger prior to going MCACN. It’s all in a day’s work for The Headlight Motor Man.
How far does a restoration go? It all depends on what the job requires.
