Dodge recently introduced the latest Dodge Charger Super Bee as the second of seven Last Call packages being offered for the 2023 model year. This is the final model year for the current generation Challenger and Charger and to celebrate the end of the era, a collection of vintage-themed packages will be offered in limited numbers. The first, the Challenger Shakedown, was introduced last week and this week, the Charger gets some Last Call love.

The Super Bee package was first introduced back in 1968 for the Dodge Coronet as a budget go-fast package and in 1971, that package was moved over to the Charger. It would be discontinued shortly after and the name wouldn’t be used again until the 2007 Dodge Charger SRT-8 Super Bee debuted.

That model was primarily an appearance package based on the SRT-8, but when the 2012 Dodge Charger Super Bee debuted, it returned to its budget-minded roots. It offered the power of the SRT models without some of the premium items that lead to the higher SRT pricing, along with some special decals and badging.

For the 2023 model year, the Dodge Charger Super Bee is back, this time offering a collection of unique features that make it the first drag strip-focused Dodge sedan in the modern era. The 2023 Charger Super Bee will be offered as either a standard-width body or a widebody, with 500 of each being produced on the Scat Pack model.

This means that they will be powered by the 392 cubic inch Hemi, delivering 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The content Scat Pack Plus Group and Carbon/Suede Package is standard on the new Super Bee, so it comes very well appointed before getting into the package-specific details.

The most significant aspect of the 2023 Charger Super Bee package is the standard drag radials at all four corners, just like the Challenger Demon and 1320. The standard-width Super Bee comes with 20×9.5-inch knurled wheels with 275mm drag radials. The Super Bee Widebody comes with 18×11-inch wheels wrapped in 315mm drag radials, and both versions come with the Drag Mode for the adaptive suspension system.

Like the other modern Super Bee packages, the 2023 Last Call version is heavy on appearance upgrades. This includes Super Bee badging on the fenders and grill, Super Bee graphics on the functional hood scoop and rear quarter panels, a Mopar hood pin kit, black exhaust tips and red four-piston Brembo brakes. The 2023 Super Bee will be offered in either B5 Blue or Plum Crazy, with blue graphics on the blue cars and white graphics on the purple cars.

On the inside, the 2023 Charger Super Bee has unique instrument panel badging and Super Bee logos on the front seatbacks.

While the exterior design might make the 2023 Charger Super Bee look like the budget/appearance packages in the past, this latest Last Call model packs all of the key premium features coupled with the best stock performance from any car to ever wear the Super Bee name. With 485 horsepower, 475 lb-ft of torque, the drag strip-tuned suspension system and standard drag radials, these will surely be the quickest Super Bees ever. While Dodge has not stated any numbers, the similar-but-heavier Challenger 1320 runs in the mid-to-low 11-second range, so we would expect that the new Charger Super Bee will comfortably run in the 11s as well.

What we don’t know is how much the 2023 Charger Super Bee will cost. Dodge plans to announce pricing when we get closer to the dealership debut of this new package. As is the case with all of the Last Call models, they will not be ordered like other packages. Instead, Dodge will build them randomly and ship them to pre-selected dealerships, where they will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.

Hopeful buyers will be able to track the availability of these models and all other 2023 Dodge Challengers and Chargers on the Dodge Garage website later this year, giving customers a chance to see which dealers have certain cars in stock, allowing them to also compare pricing between dealerships. The next Dodge Last Call model will be announced on September 7th, with three more throughout September and the final model being debuted at SEMA in November.
