Gallery: Kruk Cleans Up in 2024 Motorstate Challenge Vintage Class

We attended the 2024 Motor State Challenge with our QA1 equipped 1970 Super Bee and won the QA1 Go Drive It Vintage Class. We also received the Spirit of the Event award sponsored by NGK which also came with an invite to OUSCI, which is the final Search For The Ultimate Street Car event held at SEMA.

A few years now we have attended the annual Motor State Challenge and you may also know that this is a Pro Touring event that lasts 3 days. Day one is a cruise led by the Berrien County Police Department and this year instead of cruising to one destination, all of the competitors drove through Watervaliet, Michigan starting off at Lane Automotive / Motor State Distributing and ended at the same location. New this year was the Founders Day cruise in to honor of George and Janet Lane.

Day 2 consists of all drivers having timed road course sessions at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, Michigan. Finishing off at Tire Rack in South Bend, Indiana on Saturday Day 3 for the autocross. Award ceremony and door prizes were given away immediately following the autocross. Some of the door prizes consist of gift cards from companies and sponsors like Holley, Edelbrock, Comp Cams, QA1, MSD, Wilwood Brakes, and Optima Batteries to list a few.

Coming out on top in the Go Drive It Vintage class was our QA1 and Moser engineering equipped 1970 Dodge Super Bee. In the Go Drive It Late Model class was Chris Jacobs in his 2018 ZL1 Chevy Camaro with Forgeline Wheels. The Go Drive It classes require the cars to be driven to the event and compete. The remaining classes allow the cars to be trailered to the event. Winning the Vintage class was Randy Johnson in his 1969 Camaro equipped with Speed Tech performance parts.

In Late Model was Clay Shearer in his 2021 Porsche 9/11 Turbo S. In Manufacturers Vintage was Matthew Braun in his 1970 Chevelle and Manufacturers Late Model class was Colin King in his 2019 Corvette ZR1. Other awards worth noting was the Todd Garshore award that Tom and Debbie Farrington received for going above and beyond in showing their passion for the event. Danny King took the People’s Choice award with his 1969 Chevy Camaro Z28.

So what is Motor State Distributing? They are a worldwide distribution store of high performance automotive products for racing, Street, and off road use. Most products go to other dealers and speed shops across the country. You can also pop in to their storefront Lane Automotive if you live locally. Their 153,000 square foot complex is filled with over 80,000 part numbers and over 570 performance manufacturers such as Holley Performance, All-Star Performance, Vintage Air, Ididit, and Milodon.
