When it comes to custom Chargers, many different examples exist and each has their own feel and personal take. We’ve recently learned of a very unique and highly modified 1970 Dodge Charger 500 that the team at Bruce Harvey’s Pro Comp Customs built. While it’s not exactly everybody’s cup of tea, we can’t help but admire the time and talent poured into it. No matter if something isn’t your personal style or not, you have to appreciate the sheer amount of fabrication time and talent that goes into every car build. This Charger definitely has a lot of that into it.

Starting with a 1970 Charger 500, the team modified literally every single aspect of the car. The Charger no longer rides on its uni-body frame; instead it rolls on a custom tube chassis painted Plum Crazy Purple. The exterior was completely redone with much of the exterior sheet metal being chopped and lowered. The front wheel wells were moved 2-inches forward. The roof was chopped 3-inches and the doors, fenders and quarters were all chopped and sectioned 3-inches closer to the ground before being shot in a coat of matte black paint and finished up with Plum Crazy Purple accents.

Gone too are the drip rails and all window trim. The interior is one hundred percent custom and done in black leather with gray and Plum Crazy Purple accents as well. Under the hood sits a 745-horsepower NASCAR 5.7 engine backed by a manual transmission. Obviously, sitting this low is all but impossible, so Pro Comp has the Charger riding on a completely automated air ride suspension system with custom control arms. Pro Comp had the ’70 on display at last year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas and was met with stares of every level of interest.

The forums of course, are having a field day with this build as the Internet is where everyone feels compelled to voice their opinions.
