Mopars have had many beautiful body lines developed by talented designers like Elwood Engel, Virgil Exner, Ralph Giles, Tom Gale, and many more over the years. Stellantis has an opportunity for young designers to be added to that list of celebrated names.

The Stellantis “Drive for Design” contest is entering its 11th consecutive year in 2023. Stellantis is looking for students in Grades 10-12 to sketch their rendition of the next-generation Ram truck electric vehicle (EV). With the industry’s focus on EV products, Stellantis is constantly looking for fresh ideas about the future of electric Ram Trucks.

Mark Tostle, current Vice President of Ram Truck and Mopar Design, won an early iteration of the contest in 1987. Tostle stated,
Participating in this contest gave me the confidence to pursue the path to a career in automotive design. Now, I want to help students find the connection between their creativity and the automotive industry. It is incredible to see our past winners come up through the design school ranks. I even get to see some of them as interns or coworkers in our design studio.

This year’s top prize is an incredible opportunity to intern (if eligible) in the Ram Truck Exterior Design Studio during the summer of 2023. In addition to the summer designer internship opportunity, the grand prize winner receives a Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16 and has their winning sketch featured on Stellantis’ social media platforms.
The second- and third-place finishers will each receive an Apple iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. Additionally, both will benefit from a Virtual Day of Design portfolio review with the members of the Stellantis Design Team. Lastly, each will earn a four-week summer program scholarship to the College for Creative Studies, VisCom1.
Each entrant must submit their design by April 21, 2023. One Grand Prize winner and two finalists will be selected from the valid entries. For detailed contest rules, information on submitting sketches, and free student resources, visit www.StellantisDriveForDesign.com.
