Kenny Wayne Shepherd Relies On Reilly Motorsports

As many of you may know musician Kenny Wayne Shepherd is a huge Mopar fan. Best of all he actually works on his own stuff. Although he might not do everything, he is very involved with every Mopar he has or builds.

Recently Kenny posted a couple videos of a 1970 ‘Cuda that he is in the process of building. This one will not be an O.E. type build, but more resto-mod, which is more his style anyway.

The video, which can be found here, shows the ‘Cuda’s Reilly Motorsports AlterKtion subframe. There are a few reasons why he choose to go with Reilly Motorsports AlterKtion over other choices.

To begin with, the AlterKtion makes fitting the Hellcrate engine in between the fenders a lot easier. The rack and pinion along with the tubular design of the k-member gives plenty of room for headers, oil pans and just access to working on the engine.

Kenny also likes to drive his cars a lot. He has been spotted at multiple Hot Rod Power Tours over the years. We assume the ‘Cuda will be no different.

The AlterKtion replaces the factory torsion bars with coil-overs which will give you a more modern car feel. The coil-overs can be dialed into exactly the ride you want with different coil rates and adjustable shocks.

Although he did not mention it in the video, the one photo he posted of the rear end with the giant Baer brakes, you can see the rear Reilly Motorsports Street-Lynx four link suspension. The Street-Lynx does away with the leaf springs and switches to a triangulated four link with coil-overs.

The combination of both Reilly Motorsports coil-over suspensions is going to make Kenny’s ‘Cuda handle like a new sports car. The 707 HP Hellcrate is going to be a lot of fun with the new suspension.

We can not wait to see the end result of Kenny’s ‘Cuda when it is all finished. The ‘Cuda will be ready for the street or track with all of the parts Kenny is choosing for the build. We will be sure to keep an eye on the build and report back when it gets finished.
