Silver Sport Transmissions’ New Series II Single Disc Clutch Kits

Silver Sport Transmissions (SST) is raising the bar on their Advanced Friction™ clutches with the new Series II Advanced Friction™ single disc clutch kits. Originally designed to provide performance at a value, these clutches are a perfect match for TREMEC TKO and Magnum transmissions. Most even fit non-TREMEC brands such as Richmond and Muncie in both GM and Mopar applications.

Of the single disc offerings are three subcategories: the STR, the GRP, and the TRK. All are available in both 10.5” and 11” sizes and feature diaphragm pressure plates with explosion-resistant pressure rings. The STR is the “base” model that is rated up to 450 lbs-ft of torque. With an organic clutch disc, engagement is smooth, yet it’s beefy enough for many stock muscle cars.

The next step up is the GRP. Its disc’s center hub features eight springs, four of which are urethane-coated for durability. Clutch disc material on the flywheel side is organic, but it’s steel-backed for more rotational strength. On the pressure plate side, it’s all metallic friction. Because of that, rating for the GRP steps up to 550 lbs-ft of torque.

Atop the mountain is the TRK. Rated at a meaty 650 lbs-ft of torque, the TRK features metallic friction on both sides of the clutch disc. Of any of their single disc options, this is the most aggressive. When you need to let go of that left pedal, the TRK is going to grip. For more information on which one might work best for your application, visit SST or give them a call at (865) 609-8187.
