Silver Sport Transmissions is proud to announce that they are now offering a Quick Draw Brand bellhousing that will mate a Mopar small block or Gen. III Hemi engine to an LS1 T56 or GM TREMEC Magnum 6-speed transmission. For many junkyard scroungers, it’s been a long time coming. With so many of us already prowling around for modern Hemis, we might as well be keeping an eye out for these time-tested transmissions too.
First off, if the Quick Draw (QD) name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because of all the great work they’ve done with SST on a multitude of TREMEC TR-4050 installations. Their made-in-the-USA aluminum bellhousings have been proven to be literally bulletproof. Founder Chad McKinney has even posted video footage of a QD bellhousing taking an actual shotgun blast to make sure of its mettle!
The benefit of a retrofit bellhousing like this is the fact that so many of these factory-installed 6-speed transmissions can still be found in junkyards or for sale online for relatively decent prices. All 6-gear 1998-2002 GM F-bodies with LS1 engines were manned by the T56 and we all know how many of those cars are around. All a Chrysler-loving gearhead has to do is relieve that big chunk of overdriving fun from its Brand-X duties and slip it right into their choice of Hemi-swapped or small block Mopar.
