Use The Mopar Event Calendar to Promote Your Local Car Shows & Events

Earlier this year, the Mopar Connection Magazine team was excited to launch the all-new Mopar Event Calendar interactive calendar site knowing how badly the Mopar community needed such a tool. Thankfully, many national, regional and even local organizers and promoters have already benefited from listing their meets and events on the Mopar Event Calendar (MEC)but there are still a lot of you out there who aren’t taking advantage of this tool.

Wanting to equip you with the best possible tool necessary to promote your event before the largest audience of Mopar enthusiasts in the world (that would be Mopar Connection Magazine’s massive readership and beyond), we listed a smattering of “Frequently Asked Questions” below that should help take the fear out of creating a profile and listing your annual, monthly or even bi-monthly events on the Mopar Event Calendar (MEC) today.

What makes a post on MEC more visible than an event on Facebook? Creating an event page on Facebook is a great way to get the word out, but it only reaches the people who already know that it exists or those who are specifically looking for it. Listing an event or gathering on MEC means that you’re specifically targeting a Mopar enthusiast who is already looking for a Mopar-centric event! And with the ability to share any post via social media, you’re able to use your existing social media channel to reach both your endemic audience as well as access a wider group of Mopar lovers!

Why do I have to create a profile to list an event? There’s two good reasons: First, we don’t want spammers and fake profiles to put up a bunch of bogus events just to take advantage of folks. And second, a profile allows you to return and update your event as often as you like. Maybe a special guest decided to make an appearance or a new sponsor came on board? You definitely will want to let folks know. Having a profile permits you to do that safely and easily.

Why should I have to pay to list an event on MEC when Facebook is free? We charge the lowest amount possible ($5) to list an event on MEC to pay for our website team to keep the site up and running and profiles safe and secure from spammers and other bad guys. We also fork out quite a bit of money to keep the Mopar Event Calendar at the top of your Google searches. When somebody goes online to find a new or local Mopar event, we want your post on MEC to be the first thing they find. And that’s something that Facebook isn’t going to do without “boosting” through an ad campaign. We do all of that for you.

Can I list more than one event at a time with the same profile? Absolutely! In fact, we’re tooled up to allow clubs to list weekly events if they so choose! Our goal is to have the MEC become the world’s most prolific list of Mopar and car-centered events. (We know, it’s a lofty goal!) There’s no reason why a regional or local club or group couldn’t use the MEC to list their whole year’s worth of events. Again, it’s entirely free for folks to search and find an event to attend. You’ve just gotta list it!

Can I just give you a flyer to post? Sadly, no. We cannot be expected to know all of the in’s and out’s of your event. If you’ve gone through all of the effort to organize a get-together surely you can spend 5-10 minutes to list it on MEC. All joking aside, putting on an event takes more than the “Field of Dreams” philosophy of if you build it, they will come. You need to promote it too! That’s why we built the MEC. We want to help you get the word out to the widest audience of potential attendees and participants as possible.

How hard is it to create a profile and list an event? We sincerely made posting on MEC as pain-free as possible knowing that many of our car clubs and event organizers might struggle with computers and digital prompts (no offense intended). Not only did we use large, highly visible prompts and easy-to-read fonts but we also listed a tutorial with screen shots and big arrows guiding the way twice on the site. If you can order something online (like on Amazon.com or Summit Racing) or post pictures of your car on Facebook, you can certainly create an event listing on the Mopar Event CalendarWe promise.

OK, I created an event. Now what do I do? That’s the best part, you can sit back and wait or promote it as much as you want. Listing an event on MEC means that you’ve now listed an event on the most Google search-friendly site online. But if you’re not one to rest on your laurels, you’ll find a list of buttons on your event listing allowing you to share your post on Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Pinterest and even LinkedIn. You can even add it to your smartphone’s calendar or share the link so others can add it to their calendar. Again, you can share it as much as you wish. The Mopar Event Calendar is a tool for you to use as much (or as little) as you want.
