The starting price for a 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee 392 is $69,995. That gets you a really awesome street muscle truck with a 470-horsepower 6.4L Hemi for, even by today’s standards, a fairly fat fee. Now, street muscle trucks are cool and have been ever since Dodge pioneered them with the 1978 Li’l Red Express…but maybe not $70k cool.
What if Blackbird Performance told you that you could have a sweet street truck and G3 Hemi power for less than half that cost? Those dreams are coming true with their new catalog of 1997-2004 Dodge Dakota G3 Hemi swap components.
It starts down low. A welded steel engine mount kit (P/N BPP-2GD001P) fits the factory frame ears with polyurethane bushings for a daily driver or solid aluminum for a truck that’s going to get stepped on.
Just pick your poison for the gearbox. Their tubular transmission crossmember kit (P/N BPP-2GD002) is universal with adapter plates available for a 727, 46RE, 545RFE, NAG1 five-speed, the 8HP eight-speeds, and even a 4L80E. All of them use an off-the-shelf GM-style mount.
Then comes the sound everybody’s really here for from a big set of boom sticks. Stainless long tube headers (P/N BPP-2GD1001) with 1-7/8″ primaries and 3/8″ flanges are big enough to flow aplenty, yet compact enough to fit in the Dak’s friendly underhood confines.
If that sleepy V6 has been wearing out its welcome, give it the boot and let Blackbird help G3 Hemi the world, one forgotten Dakota at a time.
