Heat under hood can wreak havoc if not properly controlled or contained. Increased temperatures make the intake charge less dense, force the air conditioning system to work overtime, and can boil today’s fuels. Protecting components that need to stay cool is best accomplished via heat reflection and Design Engineering, Inc.’s (DEI) GOLD line sleeving does just that.
Direct heat of up to 800° Fahrenheit can be curtailed with the GOLD’s high-temperature Metalized Polyimide lamination that’s bonded to a heat-treated glass fiber base material. Sheaths, shrouds, and covers are all available for versatile shielding of anything you want to keep sheltered. Muscle car applications might include fuel lines, transmission cooler lines, air conditioning hoses, or even wiring. The quick slip of a sheath or shroud could prevent severe harness damage and hours of unnecessary troubleshooting.
Heat sheath GOLD comes in five standard sizes and can easily be slipped over the line or hose at the time of installation. Heat shroud GOLD is similar, but incorporates a hook-and-loop closure with open edges so it can be wrapped around lines that are already in place. Both are available in custom dimensions as well.
The Cool Cover™ GOLD also features a hook-and-loop closure with open edges, but is primarily meant for intake air tubes with its 28” length and up to 4” capacity. To browse their whole lineup of heat-hampering products, check out DEI online or give them a call at (800) 264-9472.
