Mopar Connection Dishes Up $3,000 in Cash & Edelbrock Prizes at Holley MoParty

We weren’t kidding when we said you’d want to participate in Mopar Connection Magazine’s second-annual Scavenger Hunt at this year’s Holley MoParty. We rolled out more cool stuff, more cool cars, prizes and gifts – plus an opportunity to meet Ms. Catherine Bach of The Dukes of Hazzard – than ever before. If you didn’t swing by, you absolutely missed out on a really good time as well as an opportunity to score some serious big dollar prizes provided to us from our good friends at Edelbrock – and $200 cash from MCM to blow in the swap meet!

Mopar Connection Magazine went all out, packing our 30′ x 80′ tent space in the Manufacturer’s Midway parking not just two but FIVE radical cars for spectators to check out. Longtime fans will have recognized “Brazen,” our ’69 Dodge Charger R/T; “Marsha,” our ’70 Plymouth Fury convertible freshly returned from paint and bodywork at All Classics Restoration; Jim Hannan’s ’67 Plymouth Belvedere II but Robert Kibbe’s TV-accurate General Lee  ’69 Charger and Musclecar Restoration’s John Baylow’s ’70 Plymouth ‘Cuda Shaker 340 4-speed.

The second-annual Scavenger Hunt fired off early Saturday morning. Each participant was given a list of 40 items to find within the grounds of Beech Bend Race Park from which, they needed to snap a picture of each item while holding up a MCM decal next to it, and return back back to our booth with the most items found. The first to return with the most items won a brand new 750cfm Edelbrock VRS-4150 carburetor, a billet adjustable fuel rail kit, an Edelbrock flag, and $200 cash from Mopar Connection Magazine.

The second place winner comes away with an Edelbrock AVS2 650cfm carburetor (with an electric choke), a steel fuel line kit and an Edelbrock flag. Finally, third place will claim a special 85-years of Edelbrock tin garage sign, an Edelbrock flag as well as a padded fender cover. Two of last year’s winners, Gwen Howard and Kimberly Bachert returned eager to win again, but it was Patrick Watson who snagged the top prize with 38 items found. Kimberly and Gwen found 37 and differed by an hour’s time.

So what were this year’s hardest-sought items? Missing from the show was an authentic FM3 Panther Pink (or In-Violet) Mopar – we needed a picture of the fender tag – and a rare Aspen A43 Kit Car. What Patrick found was the elusive Omni GLHS, which had participated in the autocross on Friday but broke down. The owner loaded it up on a trailer and parked far afield of the rest of the show, but Patrick hunted it down much to his favor. Massive thanks go to Edelbrock for their continued support of this fun activity.

While the rain certainly slowed down the show more than we’d like, we were still very excited to unveil our two new T-shirt designs that we’ve just now added to Mopar Connection Magazine’s in-house Apparel Store here. We loved chatting with you about our projects, your projects and just cool cars in general! Being able to connect with all of you is a real treat for all of us. Thanks again for all of your continued support and reading Mopar Connection Magazine!
