AMD Introduces a Trunk Deck Lid for 1970 B-Body Plymouths

For the 1970 Plymouth lovers, Auto Metal Direct (AMD) introduces a first-rate reproduction trunk deck lid accurately manufactured for the B-Body series, which includes the Belvedere, GTX, Road Runner, Satellite, and Superbird. The new AMD trunk deck lid will be available in mid-March under part no. 850-1470.

The engineers at AMD developed the deck lid to match the contours and fit of the factory deck lid, which will restore the idyllic body lines lost due to a damaged or missing factory trunk lid. Like all AMD products, the lid is so well constructed it will be desired by professional restorers and do-it-yourselfers who want only the best products for their projects.

AMD starts the deck lid’s construction with high-quality automotive steel, exceeding factory standards. Its first-class stamping process ensures the proper panel alignment and gaps and will meet or exceed the standards required by Plymouth in 1970. The deck lid is shipped in an electro-deposit primer (EDP) coating that resists rust and corrosion, eliminating the concerns of storing the lid before applying the paint.

The trunk deck lid has provisions like the factory lid to facilitate a bolt-on installation. The mindfulness in its construction structure ensures that the lid aligns to the existing mounting points, just like the original. Additionally, an inner structure exists to mount the trunk latch, and all the holes are stamped to install the various bumper bushings.

The AMD trunk deck lid is expected to retail for $849.99. Its shipping weight is 28 lbs., measuring 58” L x 5” W x 28” H. If you are not local and cannot pick up the trunk lid at AMD’s Gainesville, Georgia facility, AMD will ship the hood via truck freight. The shipping charges are usually quoted at the time of the order and are listed on the AMD website. However, do not hesitate to contact the AMD representatives with product or shipping questions.
