AMD’s New 1971-1974 Charger Ramcharger Hood

Just a short time after the announcement of their new power bulge hood for 1971-1974 Chargers, Auto Metal Direct (AMD) has again upped the ante with the release of the ’71-’74 Charger Ramcharger hood (P/N 300-2671-2). Any 3rd generation Charger owner is probably well aware of the struggle (and cost) of finding a nice, original N96 hood. With a retail price of $999.99, this newly-tooled piece of quality sheet metal is darn-near an absolute bargain.

While it’s only technically correct for ’71 and ’72 Chargers and Super Bees with the N96 Ramcharger fresh air hood option, it will fit all Chargers up to ’74. Just like all AMD products, it’s made of high-quality, OE-gauge steel and is as close to original as you’re going to find.

All of the underhood bracing was carefully replicated and it bolts on with the exact same hardware and hinges as the original piece. AMD’s standard black EDP coating covers it in a layer of corrosion protection. Also available is the necessary hood scoop door (P/N 301-1470) to complete the look.

For great prices and great service on all things AMD, give Classic Muscle Metal a call. Not only can they get you hooked up with the AMD parts you need, but they can also give you tips on how to install them. Better yet, they can put you in contact with the AMD Installation Center so your project can go from rusted wreck to resto-ready, no problem. Give them a call at (844) 275-9254.

  1. Technically this hood is really only correct for 1971 because the vents extend across the back of the Hood unbroken. In 1972 there was a gap in the center. In 1973 there was two small groups of vents and in 1974 no vents at all. I have owned both 1971 and 1972 Chargers factory equipped with Ram Charger hoods. As the article states the Ram Charger hood was only available in 71 and 72, but my statement covers all hoods Ram Charger, Power Bulge and standard flat hood.
