Although the year is coming to an end doesn’t mean that 2017 has given us all its got. At the SEMA Show CVF announced a huge addition to their line up of pulley systems. With the popularity of swapping 5.9 Cummins diesel motor into everything from Jeeps, cars, trucks and everything else, CVF designed an all inclusive Wraptor system for 5.9 Cummins that would make swaps easier and add better styling.

We were very surprised that CVF has been the first to come to market with an all inclusive serpentine belt system for the 5.9 Cummins. The kit would include both he 12 valve and 24 valve Cummins motors. The 5.9 Cummins motor is not only iconic but has a huge following. With its ability to easily be modified to put out a tremendous amount of horsepower and torque, it’s no wonder we see it being swapped into other vehicles.

The Wraptor system as we said is an all inclusive kit, not just a box of pulleys. The system uses a one piece billet bracket for added strength and better alignment. It will include a new high output 140 amp 1 wire alternator, A/C compressor, 8 rib pulleys, pulley covers, lower water neck inlet, spacers and new Gates Green Stripe belt. Then you will have to make a choice between the Stealth Black or Polished Billet color choices.

One of the unique features about the Wraptor system is the Life Time Warranty. CVF is very passionate about the quality of their parts and the others that they offer which has prompt them to offer an industry leading Life Time Warranty. This not only includes the pulleys but the brackets, a/c pump and alternator. It would not include the Gates belt or other additional accessories from Vintage Air that they also offer. We cant think of a better way for CVF to show confidence that their parts are built to last than offering such an incredible warranty. We have parts sit on the shelf longer than most other warranties in the business.

You may already know that the 5.9 Cummins motor was offered in Dodge Ram trucks for many years and through a couple different generations of trucks. Depending on the year the motor may be a 12 valve or 24 valve, which have might have minor differences. One of those differences is where your power steering pump is located. Some are driven mechanically off the engine and some are driven by the serpentine belt. You will need to note how your power steering is driven and CVF can send the correct length serpentine belt.

Another option that CVF offers for the 5.9 Cummins Wraptor kit is whether or not you have/want a mechanical or electric fans. They offer a couple different options depending on the look you want. If you have/want a mechanical fan they offer a separate bracket and pulley to mount your fan to. If you are using electric fans they can delete the whole bracket a pulley altogether. Some customers have commented that they dig the look of the extra bracket and pulley. CVF can still include the bracket and pulley but includes a cap for the front for a sleek look behind your electric fans.

Besides increasing the style of the motor, the Wraptor system is more compact than factory. CVF has relocated the A/C compressor under the alternator and uses a compact peanut A/C compressor vs the larger factory A/C compressor. This allows for easier swaps due to a lot more clearance around the passengers side frame rail. Whereas before many of the 5.9 Cummins swaps needed to notch frame rails to keep A/C or delete it altogether. Now you can still stay cool and have plenty of room for the 5.9 Cummins in just about any application you want. It is also possible to delete the A/C pump altogether if you wish. They will include their A/C delete idler pulley instead of the pump.

Its awesome that CVF has brought new Mopar product to market. As Mopar enthusiasts we are used to being on the back burner and having no or little selection of parts. With their incredible warranty and quality parts you can’t go wrong with CVF’s pulley systems. We have been more than pleased with our small block Wraptor kit in Project Orange Crush.
