For over a decade, the borough of Muncy, Pennsylvania, has had a Corvette and Mopar show on the same day in late September. The Mopar devotees meet at Kaiser Brothers Dodge while the Corvette clubs assemble on the main drag of downtown Muncy. Between the two shows, there are 100s of vehicles on display.
On September 17, 2022, the Mopar Muscle of Central PA car club had its 23rd annual car show. The car count was still down a bit from the pre-COVID car shows, but this year the vehicle total pushed close to 200 cars on the dealership lot. The event started in a thick fog, but the mist could not keep the Mopars away. By 9 am, there were already 65 cars on the grounds. Once the fog burned off, the day was perfect, with a clear blue sky and temperatures in the high-70s.
Typically, the Mopar Muscle of Central PA club has a vehicle or year of focus, but this year, the club elected not to have a specific emphasis. Instead, the Mopar enthusiasts could enjoy all the stock and modified rides on the grounds.
As with many Mopar shows, the late-model Chargers, Challengers, and 300s were well represented. Many of the late-model rides were sporting 5.7-liter Hemis rather than the more expensive supercharged Hemis in Widebodies, Hellcats, and 1320s. The ’67-’76 Darts, Dusters, Demons, Valiants, and Scamps were out in force. There were plenty of 340 Darts and Dusters. Surprisingly, several a-bodies still had the original slant six in the engine bay.
The b-body contingent remains strong, but the e-body classes were lightly filled. The c-body class continues to grow, and the AMC vehicles were well represented. The rest of the car field was filled with race cars, 80s rides, and late-model trucks.
Next year’s show is scheduled for September 16, 2023, so if you are near Muncy, PA, mark your calendar to bring your ride to the event.
