Ram Announces Special Edition 2018 Ram 1500 Hydro Blue Sport

If there is one thing the fine folks at Ram Trucks like to do; it’s special editions! The latest creation out of their custom department is the brand new 2018 Ram 1500 Hydro Blue Sport. This limited, special edition 1500 will be the final special edition Sport the Ram brand will offer in the 2017 calendar year; falling into place in the model line-up with other limited edition examples like the Sublime Green Sport, Copper Sport and Ignition Orange Sport that came out in late 2016.

“The custom look and high-impact colors have been well received in the marketplace and this new Ram 1500 Hydro Blue Sport will surely stand out on dealers’ lots and in customers’ driveways,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep & Ram Brands. “Enthusiasts demand that their trucks get noticed and our Ram 1500 Sport lineup delivers a durable, powerful alternative with great visual appeal.”

The Hydro Blue Sport comes with standard features such as a black-decaled Sport performance hood, new-for-2018 body-colored Sport grille with black billet inserts and black R-A-M letter badge, as well as flat black exterior body-side and tailgate badging. Black bezel projector headlamps and LED tail lights complement the black body badging. The entire exterior theme is tied together with a body-colored front fascia, rear bumper, side mirrors and door handles. Forged and polished 22” aluminum wheels are standard on the 4×2 models where-as 4×4 models get polished 20” wheels.

Around the time we factory ordered our 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel, Ram had just released Blue Streak Pearl as an available color on the Rebels. However, if you wanted to order that color, you were stuck with a plain Jane all black interior versus the Rebel’s brilliant deep red interior accents. We said if they had offered blue interior accents in lieu of the red with the Blue Streak Pearl, we would have purchased that color in a heartbeat. Leave it to the way the world works though as the Hydro Blue Sport edition now gets Ram’s first blue accented interior. On the inside, you’ll find blue color-matched highlight stitching on the instrument panel, heated steering wheel and door trim. Blue Sport embroidery accents the deluxe high-back, black bucket seats with mesh inserts, while blue Ram’s head logos are beautifully stitched into the headrests. Blue anodized surfaces cover the instrument panel bezels, center console trim and door panels. You’ll also find a new instrument panel badge as well! Full leather seating and trim is optional if you want it.

Other optional features include gloss black aluminum wheels, black tubular side steps, chrome wheel-to-wheel side steps, Active Level air suspension, ParkSense and the RamBox storage system. Like the previous special editions, production will be limited to 2,000 trucks in the U.S. Canadian production numbers have not been announced yet but we’d assume it’s around 300 like the Sublime editions were. Base Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price is $46,060, plus $1,395 destination. These wicked looking trucks go on sale this month.
