Sox & Martin Launches New Enthusiast Website & Official Merchandise Store

One of the most iconic duos in Mopar drag racing – Sox & Martin – has just launched a new website. For enthusiasts of vintage drag racing, there were few more impactful race teams than that of Ronnie Sox and Buddy Martin. After Ronnie’s passing in 2006, fans of the Sox & Martin name sought to preserve their place in history.

Pairing with son of fellow teammate Herb McCandless, Mike (Founder and CEO of The McCandless Collection), the creation of the official Sox & Martin website soon came to be.

The site documents the race team’s storied history featuring several galleries of high resolution images from across the decades, and even includes an easy-to-navigate webstore with official merchandise. Of course, this announcement comes shortly after the success of the launch of the inaugural Sox & Martin NHRA HEMI Challenge.

Here’s the original press release:
The new Sox & Martin website, the ultimate online hub for fans, has been launched and is live. Now enthusiasts can learn even more about this legendary racing team that forever changed the sport of drag racing. The Sox & Martin website contains an in-depth history of the team, numerous image galleries, bios on the crew members, and an online store for enthusiasts to purchase Officially Licensed Sox & Martin HEMI Challenge Merchandise and other cool items that celebrate the history of this iconic team. The address for the new Sox & Martin website is www.soxandmartin.com.

“This is a project my team, and I have been working on for the last four months and we’re proud of how it came together,” said Mike McCandless, Founder and CEO of The McCandless Collection. “We’ve put our heart and soul into making this website the ultimate collection of Sox & Martin images and information for fans to enjoy and learn more. We’re also discovering new content from the McCandless Collection archives that we’ll upload on the site frequently. Sox & Martin was a game changer during the golden era of drag racing and there’s a new generation of young Mopar enthusiasts we’re connecting with.”

The Sox & Martin website will also have updates on upcoming shows and events that Buddy Martin and Herb McCandless will be attending, new licensed products, and information related to the Sox & Martin NHRA HEMI Challenge.

About Sox & Martin
Sox & Martin is known far and wide as one of the most legendary teams in the history of drag racing. With the precise, Superman-like driving skills of Ronnie Sox and the marketing and business acumen of Buddy Martin that brought new sponsors into the sport, drag racing was forever changed. From spotless race cars, matching team uniforms, and an overall professional clean image, Sox & Martin raised the bar. In 1967, Sox & Martin, along with their primary sponsor at the time, Chrysler’s Plymouth Division, initiated the revolutionary Supercar Clinic program at dealerships nationwide. It showcased Plymouth’s latest muscle cars, Mopar and aftermarket performance parts, and driving tips encouraging young enthusiasts to race at NHRA-sanctioned drag strips.

Sox & Martin were also instrumental in the creation of NHRA’s Pro Stock class in 1970 and went on to become multi-time world champions. Ronnie Sox passed away in 2006, but Buddy Martin is still active in the Mopar community and enjoys the opportunity to attend enthusiast events. Sox & Martin is also the sponsor of the annual HEMI Challenge, the longest-running continuous specialty race in NHRA history that has been a fan favorite for over two decades. This event features exciting heads-up, wheel standing, and side-by-side racing of HEMI-powered 1968 Super Stock Dodge Darts and Plymouth Barracudas competing in the NHRA SS/AH class.
