It’s always nice to see the work and heart that goes into the parts you put into your high-performance Mopar. For nearly 45 years TCI Automotive has been the last word in performance automatic transmissions for street and strip. They build bullet-proof trannies for any American make and when you see that TCI sticker behind your engine you can breath easy because it will handle whatever your mill can throw at it.
So we have to give them props for posting this video that gives an inside look at their operations down there in the great state of Mississippi. It’s the kind of thing real Mopar enthusiasts can’t get enough of: dudes putting their all into making some of the best Made In The USA go-fast equipment money can buy.
The internal workings of an automatic transmission are highly complex, even though the concept behind power transfer is fairly simple. But for 45 years, through billions of upshifts and billions of downshifts, TCI gear has stood the test of time. Because every clutch, valve, converter and flexplate gets the extra attention it needs when it comes under the scrutiny of a talented craftsman at TCI, long before they go into a tranny. And that’s no secret, it’s just good business.
TCI has a recipe for success that even some Fortune 500 companies can’t get right. Great parts, great people in a great location – and when you think you’ve precision tested everything to the Nth degree, then test it all again. Don’t you wish your last cell phone manufacturer did that? That’s really the key to their longevity and the longevity of their transmissions. Of course, one goes hand-in-hand with the other.
