Project ZomBEE Mini Update: USCT Motorsports Stage 3 Chassis Stiffening Kit

Admittedly, it’s been waaay too long since we’ve updated everyone on the current progress of “Project ZomBEE” our rotted-out, once-doomed-to-die-in-a-barn ’70 Dodge Super Bee. The last time we checked in was back in May, and since that time, several major events have occurred, only one of which we’ll share now: USCT Motorsports (once US Car Tool) has joined “Team ZomBEE” as a sponsor and has provided us with one of their fantastic Stage 3 Chassis Stiffening Kits (66-70 B-Bodies).

So what’s a Stage 3 kit, you ask? USCT Motosports has engineered a near-perfect package that radically improves the structural rigidity and strengthens the unibody Chysler chassis far beyond that of a few drag racer’s tricks. The kit includes a pair of CNC sub-frame connectors (complete set of 2), front and rear torque boxes (complete set of 4); a pair of front inner fender braces (complete set of 2); and a front lower core support stiffener brace.

The Stage 3 kit also includes USCT Motorsports’ rear spring relocation kit (complete kit for both sides) and mini tub kit (complete kit to add up to 4″ per side tire clearance), allowing for a dramatic increase in rear wheel sizing, which we’ll be taking advantage of for our ’70 Super Bee. In fact, we had picked up just the mini-tub kit and spring relocation kit separately late last year, and only needed the aforementioned items to complete our Stage 3 kit.

This addition not only brings ZomBEE the much needed structural support to survive the torsional forces of autocross, road course and high speed driving on the highway; but also the rigidity to survive the grunt from a Demon-beating 850-horsepower 426-cubic-inch G3 Hemi that we will be building in the coming years. And, if you’ve been paying attention to our Facebook page, you’ll know that Currie just delivered ZomBEE’s new Dana 60 equipped with big ol’ Pro Series Baer disc brakes, and 3.54’s wrapped around a Detroit TrueTrac!

We’ll have a full feature length story on the building of our Currie Dana 60, as well as the installation and integration of the laser-cut, super-precision USCT Motorsports Stage 3 kit in coming months – so stay tuned to Mopar Connection Magazine!
