It sounds like Ram is about to start hunting dinosaurs with some official Rebel TRX information finally starting to bubble to the surface. Long without a direct competitor to the Raptor, Ford’s off-road specialty, Ram might just blow the doors off of Brand-X’s best with a heavy dose of Hemi power. Per usual, AmericanTrucks (AT) had their own Adam Maqboul on the scoop in a recent edition of “The Haul.”
Obviously, the main selling point is going to be an over-the-top drivetrain, even though that picture is still a little blurry. “While Ram has not officially come out and said it, we are nearly one-hundred percent certain that the TRX model will come equipped with a variant of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 found in the Hellcat and possibly paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. […] Thirty-nine out of the forty Ram prototype models made for this had Hellcat motors; one had a Demon motor in it.” Adam explains.
With the success of high-horse cars like the Hellcat Redeye and Demon, it’s only natural that a bad-to-the-bone truck would be next. Since the heavy hauler market is already well taken care of by Cummins diesel power, a purpose-built off-roader in the Rebel TRX will fill a nice void. So, when can you get one on order? “The Rebel TRX in all of its potential glory does not yet have a release date stamped on it, but we’re hearing mumbles of a possible 2021 model year release,” says Adam. We’ll be waiting…impatiently.
