Tremec’s latest muscle-ready 5-speed transmission, the TKX, continues to find its way into the tightest of tunnels with its sleek silhouette easily nestling up to a variety of factory floorboards. However, one challenge that comes with any aftermarket manual gearbox is shifter position. Two factory shifter positions are available via a reversible mechanism that takes just six bolts to change. But what if that still doesn’t come close to hitting the hole in your shifter hump?

Silver Sport Transmissions’ (SST) proprietary PerfectFit™ STX shifters allow for the proper shifter location and stub angle, all while being incredibly compact and short-throw. Through the use of a true offset, this mechanism is able to be both low profile and crisp in movement. For many applications, the PerfectFit™ shifter maintains a factory look, even with an OEM console. Custom positions and stubs are available as well for those hard-to-reach applications.

The magic of the STX lies within its double trunnion design and the use of Belleville and biasing springs to give the shifter a firm, positive engagement into any gear. “High RPM shifting is improved with dual biasing springs which guide the shifter to neutral. This gives the STX shifter an almost effortless feel as the shifter travels from one shifter gate to the next. The springs make all the difference to people who like to power shift,” says SST. Add to that a super-duty sealing scheme, and the STX looks like the cherry on top of any new TKX.
