While all of the attention seems to be on Hemi-swapping classic muscle cars, the mad geniuses at USCT (US Car Tool) Motorsports have been tooling on a conversion that could change a lot of lives: adapting a modern 8HP70 behind a 360 Magnum in a mid-1990’s Ram 1500.
Sound a little over-the-top? First, consider how many Second Generation (1994-2001) Dodge Rams are still on the road. Then imagine cruising in that pickup with a modern 8-speed transmission. Sounds pretty good, right?
USCT has been on the cutting edge of Gen III Hemi swaps since the mid-2000’s, so it’s no surprise that they’re hard at work adapting the 8-speed overdrive for a variety of applications – not just the big dollar classic muscle cars that we all love.
In a video posted to Facebook, USCT Motorsports wrote:
“Todd is going over the 8HP70 swap kit we’re installing behind our small block Magnum Mopar engine in our test vehicle. We use our own components on real builds and put miles on them before they ever ship out. That way we know the fit, function, and performance meet the standards we expect. Built, tested, and proven in-house.”
