Here’s the official press release below:
Detroit, MI – For the first time ever, the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals will showcase a Pro Touring display, including vehicles spanning 65 years of Pro-Touring history. The event will take place November 18-19, 2023 at the Donald E. Stevens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.
The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is the premiere muscle car collector event in the world. Nicknamed “the Pebble Beach of Muscle Cars,” it attracts the most dedicated car enthusiasts from across the country and around the world. Each year the show draws vehicles out of collections, garages, and barns. The event is also well known for its unique, entertaining, and informative displays, attractions, and automotive surprises.
Pfaff Designs was invited to assemble some of its most creative designs to represent and showcase the creative side of Pro-Touring. The Pro-Touring phenomenon in car culture is the combination of road-racing and autocross-racing performance with hot rods and muscle cars. This gives people the ability to express themselves and their style through classic and custom cars while enjoying the extreme driving of performance vehicles built to handle corners, stop, and accelerate on par with racing-class vehicles.
Ten vehicles originally drawn by Murray as concepts have been selected to represent a wide cross section of the Pro-Touring movement. From Joe Holyfield’s “Double Agent” MGB GT to Terry Cook’s “Kryptonite” 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, these cars illustrate the creative nature involved with building a performance classic.
Byron Burnham’s Vega “RCR” and Tom Bailey’s twin turbo Talladega confirm that these cars are driven hard and fast. Kevin Byrd’s (host of Two Guys Garage) BMW M3 and Chuck Yee’s 1977 Olds 442 will also be featured. Bookending the display are Murray’s iconic 1959 Imperial Speedster and his late-model twin-turbo Ford Explorer ST “twiSTed”.
