In this video below, you will get to view a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro attempt to beat a Dodge Neon SRT-4 in a highway race. The orange Camaro is powered by a big block Chevrolet V8 and according to the owner, produces 600 horsepower. By the looks of the Camaro decked out in its SYC Yenko decals and sporting giant rear tires and a roll cage, it means serious business.
However, it was no contest for the much lighter, 450 horsepower SRT-4. People tend to under estimate the abilities of the turbocharged SRT-4, especially when they are modified. According to the owner of the SRT-4, it’s fairly modified running a 50 trim turbocharger hooked up to a fully built engine that’s set-up to run on E85 gasoline. At the time of the video, both of the cars were owned by close friend’s so it was a friendly competition to say the least.
The SRT-4 has since changed hands and is now owned by a guy named Benjamin Kyle Smith from Tennessee. According to Benjamin, he has had to fully rebuild the engine in the SRT-4 since purchasing it. After he picked it up, he made it 50 miles towards home when the engine grenade on him. However though, he’s fully rebuilt it and says he gets stopped all the time by people on the street wanting to know if it’s the ‘World Famous YouTube SRT-4’.
