The 8HP70 eight-speed automatic transmission in 2015 and later Dodge Chargers and Challengers can handle a lot of power but suffer from overheating issues. The factory thermostat valve restricts transmission cooler flow until the thermostat opens at approximately 180 degrees. This means your transmission will be running hot almost immediately. And if that valve sticks closed, your transmission will melt down in short order.
You can help your 8HP70 live a longer, happier life with a TCI Max-Cool Transmission Cooler Kit. It’s an add-on heat exchanger that comes with a thermostatically controlled cooler block. When the transmission fluid temperature reaches 180 degrees, the thermostat will open the cooler block to route fluid through the heat exchanger, providing maximum cooling.
The TCI Max-Cool Transmission Cooler Kit is a bolt-in kit that requires no cutting or welding. It comes with a heat exchanger, thermostatic cooler block, -6AN hose and fittings, and mounting brackets. This new trans cooler is a minuscule 7.19 in. x 1.25 in. x 23 in size and can be easily mounted in your mopar. Whether it’s a factory 2016 Charger or a Hemi-swap restomod, this cooler is easily adapted to your ride.
