Power Up With A Proform One-Wire Chrome Mini Alternator

Not everyone needs a big, fat 200-amp alternator to run an arsenal of accessories. Many rodders and most racers are minimalistic in that they like their cars to be free and clear of excess weight, trinkets, and creature comforts. For them, a heavy, high-amperage alternator is about as useful as screen door on a submarine.

Proform’s new chrome one-wire mini alternator is the perfect fit with its stout 50-amp output contained in a lightweight, compact package that weighs in at just 6 pounds. Adding to a lineup that already includes black crinkle and polished finishes, it’s clad in a high-quality chrome for some visual flair. The familiar Nippondenso-style case is topped off with a V-belt pulley for vintage applications.

One-wire hookup simplifies installation although, since it was never offered from the factory, most Chryslers will require some wiring and bracket modifications. That’s just as well since the tiny case allows it to be mounted much lower or on either side of the engine with a slim chance of interference. Each mini is 100% new, fully tested, and shipped with a test run report.

Overall, their alternator catalog is pretty comprehensive with everything from Mopar-specific power pushers to universal units that range from 50-amp to 160-amp output. Most are available in a multitude of finishes, so it’s easy to match any build style. Complete the look with Mopar officially-licensed timing covers, valve covers, breather caps, and air cleaners for a total under-hood upgrade.
