Video: Behind The Scenes of the Dukes of Hazzard AutoTrader Ad

While the show ended back in 1985, we Dukes fans have been treated to two TV movies in 1997 and 2000 respectively featuring the original Bo and Luke Duke; John Schneider and Tom Wopat. Since the “Hazzard in Hollywood” movie in 2000, we haven’t seen John and Tom together in a General Lee since. Granted, they did appear on an episode of the TV show “Smallville” together driving a blue 1968 Charger but it just wasn’t the same thing. When we heard about them reuniting for a “Dukes of Hazzard”-themed Autotrader.com commercial a few years back, we got pretty excited.

In the commercial, we see the Dukes boys running from the police and realizing the General just isn’t as fast as it used to be so they trade it in on a brand new Viper. Of course it’s orange.

The results turned out to be pretty awesome to say the least. We recently came across a ‘behind the scenes’ video taken during the six days of filming for the commercial shoot and thought we’d share it with y’all. To film the commercial, a crew of over eighty people were needed including six stuntmen, one stunt dummy and one stunt chicken. For the vehicles, two original General Lees from the TV show were utilized as well as six stunt cars and twelve modern Charger Sheriff’s cars.
