With FiTech’s vast offering of bolt-on electronic fuel injection kits, it’s important for you to know which one is right for you. One way is to call or email them directly and talk through your application with one of their experienced EFI techs. Another is to check out their extensive video library that’s full of detailed product reviews and installation guides.
One of those videos is a quick rundown on the FiTech Meanstreet EFI. Designed as a carburetor replacement for engines making up to 800 horsepower, the Meanstreet (P/N 30008) is a step up from the Easy Street with a little extra oomph in the injector department. Rather than the standard 4 injector throttle body, Meanstreet is plumbed with 8 injectors running at 62 psi via the onboard pressure regulator. Similar to most of the other products in FiTech’s lineup, Meanstreet has an integrated ECU, radiator fan control, a handheld programmer, and is self-learning. It also has the patented swirl pattern annular booster design that helps atomize the fuel before it enters the intake, making it easier for that fuel to combust and make big power.
Since it doesn’t have timing control and is not compatible with supercharged or turbocharged applications, Meanstreet requires minimal input to supplant a carburetor. Just upgrade your fuel system, bolt the throttle body on, install the O2 and coolant temperature sensors, run through the handheld’s tuning wizard, and take off. It’s one of the quickest, most trouble-free ways possible to go from hoping your carb cooperates to turn-key, worry-free cruising.
