First of all, this video features one of the most awesome racetracks we’ve ever seen. Given the Audi branding and the distance markers in metric what we have here is two Americans duking it out on foreign soil. The track’s over a mile long and gives these two supercars lots of room to stretch their considerable legs. Legs that are powered by a combined 1,400 horsepower or so. These two supercharged monsters line up cackling at each other with their razor sharp exhaust notes. Lights. Action. Zoom.
The Paxton-supercharged Viper jumps out and seems to leave the ‘Vette behind as it goes up in smoke. But the plastic Chevy finally digs in and the storm begins. Man these things are fast. The camera work is very good and gives nice aerial views of the two black and red streaks of paint attempting to break the sound barrier. As they rocket through the European forest, the sounds they make are otherworldly. But what matters here is who wins right? Looks like they both do, if that’s even possible. The quarter mile is easily in the Viper’s favor by nearly a couple tenths. As the Corvette picks up steam, though, it blows past our striped snake for the 1-mile win. Yup it takes a whole mile for the Chevy to run down the Dodge on the big end.
So there you have it. Two proud Americans show the European fans what horsepower is all about and how to get it done on a track that goes on forever. But on the quarter-mile – that American of all markers – it’s Dodge for the supercharged win.
