On Sunday, July 12th, we attended the 33rd Annual Mopar Madness show in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. Usually held on the second weekend of July every year and put on by the Vancouver chapter of the Mopars Unlimited Car club, it’s proudly known as one of the biggest Mopar shows in Western Canada.
As far as car shows go, this is a must attend event for us. We haven’t missed a show since 2005. The show has always attracted a very strong showing of classic Mopars and since around 2005, it has also attracted a very high number of modern Mopars as well.
The show organizers and participants usually get treated to good weather on the day of the show with the weather usually being great. This year was no exception with sunny and hot weather. When we first started attending this show back in 2005, there were rows upon rows of both classic and modern Mopars.
In 2010, the show moved from its tried and true location at Kwantlen College down the road to George Preston Recreation Center. We found for the first year at the new location, the number of cars dipped slightly with the location change but quickly got better and better the following years.
In 2017, the show took a bit of a dip with numbers, especially in the E-Body categories with barely any attending which was very surprising but after that, once again it skyrocketed back to normal. A-Body and B-Body numbers always stayed consistent throughout it all.
Modern Mopars have always had a very strong showing at the show as well with usually over 40 modern Chargers, Challengers, 300s and Magnums showing up. However after a class change in 2022 (which was switched back to normal the year after), we noticed the modern Mopar numbers have been dropping every year. While last year was the worst attendance for modern Mopars in our opinion, this year wasn’t much better.
A big change for this year was the event was switched back to the original location at Kwantlen College for the first time since 2009. The change once again seemed to bring car numbers down a bit in some classes across the board; however we were told they were around average still.
That being said, the show this year did have a ton of high quality Mopars, which we were very happy to see as it keeps the momentum of this show going; even after 33 years! We truly can’t wait to see it continue to grow!
This year we decided to bring our 1970 AAR ‘Cuda and 2008 Challenger SRT8 to the show and had a great time as always!
If you live anywhere in Western Canada or the Pacific Northwest of the United States, you have to come to this show at least once. It’s a show we at Mopar Connection Magazine have marked on our calendars year after year and one we will never miss. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone at Mopars Unlimited for putting on another great show. We already can’t wait for next year’s event taking place on July 11th, 2027.
