Before you get all upset that the winner was driving a Chevrolet, it’s important to know that while we at Mopar Connection Magazine were traveling the entirety of the Hot Rod Power Tour, we really didn’t see that many Mopars present at all 5 days. Sure, we saw lots of Mopars but not nearly enough to sway the odds of American Powertrain’s Tremec TKX 5-speed giveaway.
All of that being said, American Powertrain (together with Tremec transmissions) are very excited to announce that Jessika Pownall won the big giveaway last Friday at the Indianapolis stop of the Hot Rod Power Tour. Pownall admitted that this was her first Power Tour and was super excited to win the complete installation kit for her 1965 Chevrolet C20 pickup.
Here’s the original press release from American Powertrain:
American Powertrain™, the nation’s leading distributor of TREMEC® manual transmissions, teamed up with TREMEC to give away a grand prize on the last day of the Hot Rod Power Tour that concluded last week. Jessika Pownall was announced the winner of the week-long contest and will have the option to receive either a 5-speed or 6-speed TREMEC transmission and an American Powertrain conversion kit that includes everything required for installation – hydraulics, crossmember, aluminum bellhousing, clutch kit and more. The grand prize is valued at over $5,000.
Matt Graves, American Powertrain Marketing and Product Manager says, “We’ve participated with TREMEC in almost every Power Tour since its start. There’s a lot of excitement on the last day of the event when Long Haulers can win big prizes like ours. For this grand prize, all they had to do was stop by our booth during the tour and get two tickets to enter – one from American Powertrain and one from TREMEC. We couldn’t make it easier. Too, it’s a great way to connect with our core customers and answer any questions they may have.”
The contest was open to any of the 10,000+ registered Power Tour Long Hauler participants during the five-day event that began in Bowling Green, KY on June 10 and concluded at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on Friday, June 14.
Pownall says, “It is so funny that I won as just prior to the announcement I looked at my husband and our friends and said, ‘This is a winner, I can feel it.’ I was so very surprised still when they called out the last three numbers. I am leaning toward a TR-4050 five speed to use in our 1965 Chevy C20. We farm pumpkins and this truck has been the face of our farming operation for marketing. The five speed would be good for towing and this truck needs a new transmission. We’re excited to give it an upgrade.”
Mike Kidd, TREMEC’s Aftermarket Business Manager, says, “Every year the number of TREMEC manual transmission equipped cars and trucks on the tour continues to grow. That’s why we’re here. The Hot Rod Power Tour is a great way to meet our customers and to answer questions people may have about upgrading to a manual 5 or 6-speed.”
Also present at the 30th Anniversary Power Tour was last year’s winner, Trace Boyd. Last year he selected a TREMEC TKX 5-speed for his 1985 GMC Sierra Square Body with an SBC engine and brought the vehicle to drive once again as a Long Hauler for this year’s event with the new transmission installed.
