QA1 Expands Mopar Catalog With Gerst Tubular Suspension Acquisition

With so much attention being put on modernizing classic Mopars with late-model third-generation HEMIs and smooth-shifting transmissions, it’s not hard to forget the breakthroughs being made by the aftermarket in suspension upgrades. QA1, an industry leader in its own right with tubular control arms, K-members and even a complete 4-link system for the A-body, is greatly expanding its classic Mopar suspension line with the acquisition of Gerst Tubular Suspension.

Well-known for manufacturing coil-over systems for classic Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler platforms, Gerst products have been gaining traction (zing!) with Mopar enthusiasts looking to improve on their project car’s cornering and road manners.

With the merger, QA1 welcomes suspension systems for A, B & E Bodies, providing both front and rear coil-over suspension as well as provisions for “popular engine swaps, including the popular Gen 3 Hemi […] with modular motor mounts and plenty of exhaust clearance.” Equally, QA1 brings in Gerst’s front suspension systems, converting D-100 trucks over to a modern coil-over suspension with rack and pinion steering.

Here’s the full release:
QA1 is excited to announce the expansion of its classic Mopar suspension line with the asset acquisition of Gerst Tubular Suspension, a manufacturer of coil-over systems for classic Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler platforms.

Gerst has been producing high-end classic Mopar coil-over systems for nearly a decade. The company is known for its innovative designs, top-notch quality, and exceptional customer service.

The acquisition pairs Gerst’s popular Mopar products with the manufacturing capability and distribution of QA1, a leader in suspension solutions for American muscle cars. QA1’s state-of-the-art facility in Lakeville, Minnesota, enables expanded and efficient manufacturing of these products while maintaining the high- quality standards both companies are known for.

“I hand-picked QA1 when I made the decision to partner with another company,” says Carl Gerst, Founder of Gerst Tubular Suspension. “QA1’s quality standards and manufacturing capability made them the ideal partner. Their team is highly passionate and talented – it’s going to be a lot of fun working together on development projects in the years ahead.”

The Gerst products will complement QA1’s current suspension solutions, which are designed to work with factory geometry and torsion bars. The coil-over systems from Gerst appeal to enthusiasts looking for adjustable ride height, giving users the ability to dial in the perfect stance, ride quality, and performance. With this addition, QA1 is able to quickly expand its line of full-vehicle suspension kits for Mopars, with new part numbers being released in the coming months. These new products will be manufactured in Lakeville, MN, alongside other QA1 products.

“Carl has built an exceptional brand and product offering over the years and we couldn’t be more thrilled to add these products to our lineup.” says Melissa Scoles, QA1 President and CEO. “Our team has really enjoyed working with Carl and we are excited to continue that relationship into the future.”

Carl’s experience with Mopars and knowledge of complete suspension solutions is a good match for QA1, which releases multiple new products for various applications each year. Carl will join QA1 at shows and events to continue promoting the virtues of the Gerst designs. Additionally, he will collaborate with the QA1 product development team on future designs.

Effective immediately, all Gerst customer service and manufacturing operations will be transferred to QA1. Customers with products on order through Gerst will be contacted soon with details on their orders. In the coming weeks, as manufacturing gets underway, additional product release information will be provided.

I met Carl Gerst early in his promoting and selling his suspension products, and spoke with him on the phone a little over a year ago. Always ready to answer questions, and very customer service oriented. I hope it suits both QA-1 and Carl well.
