Holley’s 4500 series carburetor earned its place in performance history not long after its inception in 1969. The big flange was a big hit with racers at the strip and on the oval, dwarfing smaller 4150 and 4160 series carbs.

Fortunately, it wasn’t stuck with the numerical moniker alone as Holley’s “Name the Carb” contest later that year birthed the designation that stuck: Dominator. The Dominator 4500 was and still is an absolute behemoth, made to flow the maximum amount of air in race-only applications.

Iterations in its design over the past five decades bore a number of variants to the original means of mechanical fuel metering. More recently, the hallowed name and reputation have stepped into the modern world as part of Holley’s EFI division.

Dominator ECUs are proclaimed to be the “new standard in EFI” with integrated electronic transmission control, drive by wire throttle control, and a multitude of inputs and outputs for external controls. And the 4500 flange is as popular as ever with several kits offering the big boy bases for induction duty.

The latest addition is Holley Sniper EFI’s Terminator X Stealth 2×4 4500 kit. With eight injectors that can flow 100 lb/hr and support 1,500 naturally-aspirated horsepower, this setup is for those that need a full load of fuel in a hurry.
