Over the weekend of November 18th and 19th 2023, the city of Rosemont was alive with the sounds of Mopar Muscle (and others)! The 14th annual Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals took place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.
In the car world, the show is known as “The Pebble Beach of Muscle Car shows.” And it’s true, the quality and quantity of cars you will fine nowhere else. And being that 90% of the staff, starting with Bob Ashton at the top and working its way all the way down to me, absolutely loves Mopars, we always try to push the envelope for cool Mopars in the show.
This year was no exception. Our red-carpet area up in the front of the show ended at the RTS ‘Cuda! And that was just as you walked in! We had dedicated areas with nothing but Mopar content. Like the Evolution of the Charger area, with Chargers from every year from 1966 through 1974 (except 1972). There is the usual Mopar Alley as well with a collection of highly desirable Mopars.
For the show, they always have special invitations, this year two big ones were the class of 1963 and 1973. So, there was a bunch of cool Mopars stashed in there, like a 1973 Road Runner GTX sunroof car next to a 1973 Charger with 440 and sunroof! Not to mention the low mile 1973 Plymouth Duster brought out by Noel Automotive of West Branch Iowa.
Restoration shops bring out a variety of cars to unveil at the MCACN show. This year Magnum Auto Restoration had the famous Hurricane Superbird on display with all the body work finished and the car in primer! Apex Auto unveiled a Hemi Superbird they were restoring. Muscle Car Restorations unveiled another Superbird, this one was in the Barn Finds display in 2022, and fully restored in time for the 2023 MCACN show.
This is just the broadest of stroke of the show. A small taste to whet your appetite. Because we are already in full swing in production for the show next year! November 23rd and 24th 2024! I’ll see ya there.
